中年英語好き

50代を目前に控えた中年サラリーマンです。中学・高校の英語教師の資格を取りましたが、バブル景気もあって一般企業に就職。ところが、なんと海外部門に配属され、本気で使える英語を身につけなければならなくなりました。その後、NY駐在も経験させてもらい、英語がライフワークの一つになりました。年男の年頭を機に、ブログを使って毎週の出来事を簡単な英語で紹介することにしました。自分の勉強にもなりますし、ブログをご覧の皆様のお役に立てれば幸いです。

主な出来事  6月21日-27日


Politics

Prime Minister Abe and President Park attended the Japan-Korea diplomatic normalization '50 commemorative events held both in Tokyo and in Seoul and showed a willingness to build mutual future-oriented relationships.

95 days extension of the ordinary Diet session until September 27 was passed at the House of Representatives plenary session. The government and the ruling party have a policy to establish a security-related bill in the extended session.

The government has announced that the next year's summit will open  in Mie Prefecture on May 26th and 27th.


Business

The government shows the guidelines of economic and fiscal management and aims to finance reconstruction with increased tax revenue through economic growth.

Regarding the data falsification problem of seismic isolation devices rubber, Toyo Tire & Rubber announced the resignation of the chairman and the president.  It also demotes the senior managing director and went into the unusual situation.

The Nikkei Stock Average of the Tokyo stock market reached higher than the IT bubble period and rose to the level in the past 18 years.

Shareholders' meeting is at the peak, and 40% of the listed March 31 closing companies held their meetings this week.

World

US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue was held in Washington. President Obama has requested a specific detente to the Chinese side for the ocean and the cyber space.

As information from WikiLeaks, France paper reported that the United States has been eavesdropping the conversation of presidents Chirac, Sarkozy, and Hollande.

In order to counteract Russia, NATO decided to enhance the readiness of the emergency twice or more than the current personnel of readiness troops.

Federal Supreme Court was judged to constitutionality about the same-sex marriage.


Japan

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and U.S. Ambassador Kennedy attended to Okinawa Memorial Day. Governor Onaga was determined in the peace declaration to stop the Henoko relocation of the US military Futenma Air Station.

The Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry has decided to expand the scope of DNA identification.

Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department raided the Toyota headquarters and the Tokyo headquarters alleged the Narcotics Control Law violations.
